Dodging Divorce: Top Tips for a Happy Marriage

by Native  R. www.gooddeedsmall.com
When it comes to marriage, all couples want to be happily wed. However, as the years progress, sometimes it’s hard to remember all the things that made you fall in love with that person in the first place. With an ever-increasing divorce rate, there are simple ways to keep your marriage strong.
Walking Away?
We’ve all walked away from an argument; it’s usually just in time, before we said something we really didn’t mean. Well, what about walking and talking? Before defenses are put up and harsh words start to fly, you should both put on your sneakers and hit the pavement. Studies have shown that most conflicts stem from being cooped up with each other for an extended amount of time. Fresh air and clearer thoughts will inevitably lead to a calmer discussion.
Do it Later
How many times do you interrupt “couple time” to do the dishes, laundry, make dinner or even take a phone call? Take some well-deserved time to just let it all go and hang out with your partner! When it is time for dinner, try spicing up a couple recipes by adding in mustard seed, which has aphrodisiac qualities that stimulate the sexual glands.
Appreciate Each Other’s Principles (and Quirks)
Although it can be very annoying and somewhat aggravating for your partner to not always agree with you, it is essential to always appreciate the principles and morals that he or she has. When talking to your partner about certain convictions you may have, it is important to be able to acknowledge that he or she may not feel the same. Remember that these are the standards your partner lives by and you ultimately fell in love with -that should help quell any annoyances. In addition, keeping an open mind and flowing communication will help alleviate bottled up tension, stress, and even frigidity, all of which can break down a relationship.
Celebrate Independence Day
For some couples, it is very hard to spend quality time together due to conflicting work schedules, or even spending most free time with the children; however, for successful couples, all they may do is spend time with each other. While it is important to spend time with your partner, it is also important to realize you need time apart from each other as well. Try taking one day off a week to do whatever you want, whether it’s hanging out with your friends or relaxing by yourself.
The truth is, it can be easy to stick with your marriage; all you need to do is slow down and appreciate the great qualities your partner has, and most importantly how they compliment yours!
