Natural Cellulite Tip: Dry Brushing

by A. Grano   www.gooddeedsmall.com
There is no need to be shy about wearing that swimsuit- you can help reduce the appearance of cellulite ! Many women consider cellulite to be one of their most hated ‘flaws’, and it’s said to affect more than 90 percent of all women, to some extent. Cellulite is especially frustrating because weight loss and exercise alone usually cannot make it disappear.
Below the skin are layers of subcutaneous fat, which is stored in stacks of vertical chambers that protrude slightly into the upper dermis layer. When the fat cells in these chambers become larger, they extend closer to the surface, resulting in a bumpy, ‘cottage cheese’ effect. Genetics, normal aging, decreased circulation, and inefficient waste removal from cells under the dermis can all increase the appearance of cellulite.
What is dry brushing?
Dry brushing is a centuries-old treatment that has gained mainstream popularity in recent decades. It provides a gentle internal massage that promotes detoxification, plus works on the surface to exfoliate the skin and stimulate skin renewal.
Dermatologists recommend using a natural soft bristled brush, starting at your feet and sweeping up the legs. Brush towards the heart to encourage the return of blood and encourage lymphatic flow. For cellulite-prone areas like the thighs, rub in a series of circular movements, and avoid irritating the skin by over-brushing.
Additional support
Diet and exercise are still important factors to consider, as foods provide nutrients to the skin and exercise keeps blood flow circulating to all areas of the body. In addition, several essential oils are known to support circulation and promote skin health when applied during massage, which can compliment a dry brushing routine.
A few essential oils to note: Basil essential oil has been studied for its beneficial effects on the skin and its ability to support the skin in general; Grapefruit essential oil contains vitamin C, antioxidizers and flavonoids, all beneficial in supporting skin and tissue health; and Naiouli essential oil is comprised of anti-oxidants and flavanoids.
CelluTight Massage Oil is a nourishing massage oil that improves the appearance of dimpled, bumpy skin and promotes smooth skin all over the body
